Collaborating with Microsoft and industry partners, UA92’s disruption team delivered a 5-day tech immersion programme as part of the Northern Initiative.
The scheme is designed to provide young people, who would not otherwise be exposed to technology, with opportunities to learn skills, explore career opportunities, and build valuable connections with industry. The grand finale of this tech skills programme was a dynamic hackathon that showcased and unlocked innovation and creativity of students from Dean Trust Ardwick.
“This hackathon was the perfect conclusion of a 5-day Tech Skills programme, part of a wider ambition within the Northern Initiative programme. The students’ innovative ideas and solutions were not only inspiring but also a testament to the fresh skills and perspectives modern businesses need in order to cultivate the next generation of tech talent,” said Aaron Saxton, UA92 Director of Disruptive Learning.
“We’re now reaching out to organisations across the region to join us on our mission to equip young people, especially those underrepresented in the tech industry, with critical skills and career opportunities in areas such as cloud computing, artificial intelligence, data, programming, and cyber security. Organisations can join us to drive this change and shape the future of tech education by giving their time and expertise and we’re actively looking for funding to extend our reach and maximise the number of young lives we can change. Together, we can unlock the potential of the next generation and build a brighter, more inclusive future.”
“The Northern Initiative programme exemplifies the power of collaboration in bridging the tech skills gap and creating pathways for young people to enter the technology sector. By providing hands-on experiences and direct interaction with industry professionals, we are helping to inspire and equip the next generation of tech innovators. Microsoft is proud to lead this initiative which will drive social mobility, diversity and inclusion within the tech community,” added Paul Lewis, Cross Solutions Business Development Director UK&I at Microsoft
“This has been a fantastic and eye-opening opportunity for our pupils. UA92 has brought technology to life outside the classroom, and it has been a privilege and a fantastic experience for our students.” Ms Basma Sayeed, Assistant Headteacher, Dean Trust Ardwick.
