5 days in my shoes – Sports Events Management student Holly Bell

Blogs

BACK

Sports Events Management student, Holly Bell gives us the low down on what her week looks like as a UA92 student!

MONDAY

I love Mondays! It is the first day of a new week and I am always so excited to see what it has to offer me. I am a PM student, so I attend classes in the afternoons, which start at 2pm. This is perfect for me. It gives me plenty of time to wake up early and get lots of things done first. I go to the gym most mornings, and love to start my day off with a workout.

TUESDAY

I am up early again for the gym and then head to campus for my classes. I am really enjoying this terms topic on sports event management. It has taught me so much and I love that we have a practical and theory side to our learning.

This year I joined the UA92 Netball Club. I really look forward to our weekly training sessions on a Tuesday evening! It has been so much fun getting to make new friends and play sports.

 WEDNESDAY

At UA92, it’s called Digital Wednesday.  We don’t have any scheduled classes so you can either use your day to catch up on your project or assignment work or play sports fixtures in the BUCS leagues. If I don’t have a netball match, I like to go and see my family, meet up with my friends or spend the day out exploring Manchester. Having a break in the middle of the week is so rewarding. It allows me and other students to have a social life and go see family or friends or even work! I Iove having a break mid-week. I always feel refreshed and ready to focus on my learning again for the rest of the week.

THURSDAY

I have been looking forward to today as we have our first guest speakers for this module. UA92 have some amazing partners and so many opportunities. The guest speakers are always really interesting because you get to see how what you’re learning is applied in the real-world. Today we had two guest speakers, who were so inspirational, and I feel so lucky that I get the opportunity to connect and network with these amazing people and learn more about what they do.

Friday

Fridays always feel quite chill and a nice way to end a busy week. This week we got to visit Hotel Football, and meet the Director of Events. She demonstrated how they manage their events and we got to see what goes on behind the scenes. It was so much fun and super interesting to get first-hand experience related to the module we are studying. We even got the chance to plan our own event and pitch our ideas!
