3rd Year Accounting and Finance student turned entrepreneur, Fadil Sharif, credits the UA92 timetable structure in enabling him to manage his studies around running three businesses.

Why did you choose to study Accounting and Finance?

When I chose to study Accounting and Finance, I didn’t know that my small business, selling trainers online, would take off like it has. When I applied for the course, I wanted to go into the finance or banking sectors, but even if that’s not what I end up doing now, as a business owner, I think it’s always useful to have a good understanding of the finance side of things.

Why did you apply to UA92?

The timetable structure was a definite plus for me. Being able to focus on my business in the morning, and then on my studies in the afternoon, has helped me to achieve more and be more productive with my time. I also get the maximum number of professional accounting exemptions with the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) and the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA), which was more than other courses I was looking at.

What’s been your biggest achievement?

Keeping on track with my studies whilst managing three businesses. When my Asset London brand attracted a number of celebrity clients, things really started to take off. I launched my first e-commerce website and things just went from strength to strength. At the same time, I got the opportunity to branch out in other fields. I think it’s really important to have a qualification under your belt but I’m never one to turn down an opportunity, so I just had to make it work.

What does the future hold for Fadil?

I like to think at some point in my career I will get to work with other entrepreneurs, as a kind of mentor, to help them build successful businesses. I also want to work for HMRC one day, using my accountancy degree to provide expert advice.
