The Review of the Year showcases the fantastic work of World of Media students, from the past academic year. It is a celebration of the innovative, creative, accurate, forward-thinking work that University Academy 92 (UA92) students are creating.
Here, Dr Robert (Ted) Gutsche Jr, UA92 Link Tutor and Senior Lecturer in Critical Digital Media Practice at Lancaster University, explains what a journey it has been so far:
“When I landed with my family in England from the U.S. nearly five years ago, UA92 had already become more than a vision. Still, creating and supporting Journalism, Media, and Communications programs and developing a Digital Media Lab for its students became one of my first tasks from my new post at Lancaster University.”
This year’s review is the first to include contributions from all three year groups. With such high standard of work being produced across the board, it’s been a tough ask to select a handful of examples to feature in the review.
Dr Robert Gutsche Jr continues to reflect, “I have revelled in the student work that has come across my screen these past three years… What appears in these pages showcase the best of their ideas, of their individual and shared life experiences, and of their passions for the future.”
Students have produced a range of creative content including articles, photography, videos and graphics, showing off the specialist skills learnt throughout their studies. From scoring exclusive interviews with high-profile people to getting their first by-lines – UA92 students never cease to amaze.
“It didn’t take until this year’s first graduating class for us to see UA92’s successes – that success showed in the attitudes, intellect, and work ethics of students that first stepped through its doors.”
