This Level 6 Digital Marketer Apprenticeship prepares learners for digital marketing careers of the future. Blending industry led learning, hands-on experience, and personal development to build a future-ready workforce. Apprentices will have the opportunity to further enhance their skills with optional industry recognised certifications. Successful graduates will achieve a level 6 Digital Marketer apprenticeship qualification and a BSc (Hon) Digital Marketing degree awarded by Lancaster University.

What is a Digital Marketer?
A digital marketer is responsible for using a variety of digital channels, such as the internet and mobile tech, to build brand awareness, engage customers and generate leads.
Digital marketers will be involved in developing an organisation’s multi-channel communication strategy and may work across several areas, or specialise in a few, depending on company size.
What skills will the apprenticeship develop?
Your apprentices will study a range of topics on this programme. All our programmes are built in collaboration with top businesses and industry experts, so your learners will get the latest skills and knowledge to put them at the forefront of their industry. Some examples of what your apprentices will learn include:
- A well-rounded knowledge of SEO and PPC
- Understand how to interpret a data set and create thorough and accurate reports from this
- Learn how to navigate various digital marketing platforms and understand the different benefits and uses of them
- Developing content creation skills in various formats such as copywriting, videos and graphics, to engage different audience types
- Learn key skills in campaign management, such as collaboration and communication with multiple areas/individuals to effectively run a campaign from start to finish to ensuring the smoothest outcome
- Boosting trend awareness and understanding how to spot emerging trends and identify what is right for specific audience types
How long will it take?
The apprenticeship will run for a total of 36 – 42 months. Within this time, apprentices will complete 12 modules and can complete additional recognised qualifications.
What will the apprenticeship cover?
The apprenticeship will cover the following modules:
- Module 1: Marketing Fundamentals & Digital Environment. In this module, apprentices will get an introduction to marketing principles, learn how to apply marketing in today’s principles and get an introduction to basic AI marketing tools.
- Module 2: AI Tools & Digital Marketing Technologies. This module focuses on data collection and analysis techniques, marketing automation processes, exploring digital marketing technologies, platforms and AI tools.
- Module 3: Content Creation & Digital Communications. This module will teach learners how to develop skills in digital content creation, the use of AI tools for content generation and digital brand building.
- Module 4: Professional Practice in Digital Marketing. In this module, learners will look at experiential learning in today’s digital environment, the use of data for marketing decisions and professionalism in practice.
- Module 5: Data-Driven Marketing & Analytics. This module explores how artificial intelligence can be used to generate meaningful customer insights. Learners will develop skills in data visualisation, alongside interpreting and implementing data-driven strategies to support informed marketing decision-making.
- Module 6: Digital Campaign Planning & Optimisation. This module focuses on the design, implementation, and optimisation of digital marketing campaigns. Learners will apply AI tools to enhance campaign performance and develop the ability to manage, analyse, and optimise campaign outcomes effectively.
- Module 7: Customer Experience & Digital Channels. In this module, learners will evaluate and enhance customer interactions across digital channels. It covers customer journey analysis and the application of data-driven approaches to improve customer experience and engagement.
- Module 8: Professional Practice in Digital Marketing. This module explores marketing project management and cross-functional collaboration within professional settings. Learners will develop strategic capabilities while gaining an understanding of ethical and professional practice in digital marketing environments.
- Module 9: Strategic Digital Marketing. This module enables learners to create, implement, and evaluate comprehensive digital marketing strategies. It develops leadership skills for driving digital transformation initiatives and synthesising complex data to support strategic decision-making.
- Module 10: Digital Marketing Specialisations. This module allows learners to develop advanced technical skills within a chosen digital marketing specialisation. It focuses on creating innovative solutions tailored to specific digital marketing domains.
- Module 11: Digital Ethics & Future Trends. This module develops awareness of the ethical implications associated with digital marketing practices and emerging technologies. Learners are encouraged to apply ethical frameworks to support responsible and informed decision-making.
- Module 12: Work Based Project & Portfolio. In this capstone module, learners will design and lead a complex digital marketing project. They will create comprehensive strategies, demonstrate advanced professional leadership, and prepare for the apprentice assessment professional discussion through the development of a professional portfolio.
