Get a degree in two years

The quickest way to get a degree in the UK is to study a two year degree. As an accelerated degree student, you will still benefit from all the same experiences and opportunities as other UA92 students but will get a full degree awarded by Lancaster University in just two years, instead of three.

On the two year degree, you’ll study 6 blocks a year, each 6 weeks long. Despite what you might think – you still get plenty of breaks in between to focus on other things. Similarly to our three year degree, you will study either in the morning or afternoon, however for accelerated students this may change throughout your studies.

Road to Greatness

Accelerated degrees are the perfect solution for those who want to complete their degree faster and enter the world of work much quicker. You will also save yourself money on tuition fees and living costs – extra bonus! Business Management graduate, Somerset, shares why an accelerated degree was the perfect option for her.

“When I came to UA92 and I found out about the fixed timetable I thought, that is perfect. I am a mature student and I know I needed to continue to work. Also I could do my degree in two years instead of three.”

Do you get the same qualification as the traditional degree?

The qualification is exactly the same whether you choose to study it across two years or three. It’s just you put a little extra study time in each year to complete it faster. Crucially, a two year accelerated degree leads to the same qualification as a traditional degree. You’ll earn a Bachelor of Arts (BA) or Bachelor of Science (BSc), with honours, just like students on our three year degree programmes.

Is the workload more on the accelerated programme?

Essentially no! You will attend the same number of classes per week as a three year degree student and still focus on one module at a time. However, where a three year degree student studies four blocks a year, you’ll study an additional two, making it a total of 6 blocks a year.

What does (Hons) stand for?

An honours degree (Hons) signifies that you have completed a dissertation or project which is considered a higher level of academic achievement. Graduates with an honours degree have a significant advantage when starting out in their chosen careers or progressing to post-graduate study.

What are the entry requirements for the accelerated degree?

The standard entry requirements for a 2 year degree course at UA92 is 104 UCAS points.*

  • UCAS Points: 104
  • A Levels: BCC (104 equivalent)
  • BTEC National Extended Diploma: DMM
  • BTEC Diploma: D*D
  • T Levels: M
  • Scottish Advanced Highers: AB
  • IB: 28 points with 14 from Higher Level Subjects

However, each application is assessed on an individual basis, taking into consideration a wide range of factors. If you would like to know more about applying to UA92 or have any questions about our entry requirements, please contact our Student Futures Team.

How much time will I be in uni?

It takes two full academic years to complete the two year degree. Each academic year is split into six blocks, of which you will study all six. Each block is six weeks long therefore the two year degree requires a total of 36 weeks of study per year. You will get a short break of 1-2 weeks between blocks with a slightly longer break at the end of each academic year.

When can I start an accelerated degree?

We have six entry points throughout the year. Therefore, you can start a three year degree in September, November, January, February, April or June.

Which courses can I study as an accelerated degree?

We offer 15 different degree courses across Business, Sport, Media and Digital, all are available to study in the accelerated model.
