WORRIED ABOUT
RESULTS DAY?
Results day is a big moment in your journey to university. For some, it’s a time of celebration, but for others it can mean changing plans or starting over.
Remember, your results do not define you and if things don’t quite go to plan, there are plenty of great opportunities. They might even work out better for you in the end.
Knowing what to expect on results day, finding out what you can do to prepare and having a ‘just in case’ plan will help you stay calm and focused on the day.
PREP MORE,
STRESS LESS
A little preparation takes a lot of the stress out of results day.
Create a short back-up list including a few universities or courses you’d consider and the entry requirements they typically ask for.
Save their Clearing helpline numbers too so you have everything you need in one place just in case you need it.
Make sure you can log in to your UCAS Hub, and know where to find your Clearing number and Personal ID, if you already have one.
Keep your phone charged and grab a pen and notepad.

STRUGGLING WITH RESULTS DAY NERVES?
Here are some top tips from one of our Student Wellbeing Advisors on how to stay calm in the run up to results day.
Tips for a Calm Results DayWhere can I get my results from?
You will receive your results directly from your college. They should let you know how to access these. Your UCAS hub will automatically update your application status but you will not be able to view your results on the UCAS hub.
What time can I access my UCAS Hub on results day?
If you are waiting for A-level results, your UCAS Hub will freeze in the days before results day. This gives universities and UCAS time to process results and make their final decisions. You will be able to view your application status from 8am on Thursday 13 August on UCAS Hub.
For Scottish Higher’s, BTEC and other qualifications, dates may vary.
What's the first thing I should do on results day?
The first things you’re going to want to do is check your application status on UCAS Hub and find out your grades from your college.
If you narrowly miss your offer conditions, you may be offered an alternative course, so make sure you check both to know exactly where you stand.
What happens if I don;t meet the grade requirements of my firm choice uni?
Don’t assume the worst! Some universities will accept students who narrowly miss their conditions or offer an alternative course. Check your UCAS Hub for the actual decision rather than working it out from your grades alone. If your firm choice isn’t confirmed, you may be accepted by your insurance choice instead.
How will I know if I am in Clearing?
Your status on UCAS hub should say either ‘You are in Clearing’ or ‘Clearing has started’.
If I get accepted, do I need to contact the university on results day?
If you get accepted at your firm or insurance choice, you don’t need to contact them on results day, unless you have any specific questions or want to make any changes.
