UA92’s World of Sport have announced a collaboration with Delsys Europe, a globally recognised leader in wearable technologies for the sport, health and human performance sectors.
Based in Manchester, Delsys Europe empowers researchers and practitioners with cutting-edge sensing technology designed to advance the understanding of human movement, performance and augmentation.
Through this collaboration, UA92 students and staff will gain enhanced access to industry-leading technology, applied research opportunities and valuable real-world experiences.
The collaboration brings together UA92’s commitment to industry-led education and Delsys Europe’s expertise in research-grade electromyography (EMG) and wearable biomechanics technologies. Together, the organisations aim to create innovative opportunities that bridge the gap between academic study and professional practice.
Dr Mitchell Finlay, Senior Lecturer at UA92, welcomed the collaboration and highlighted its potential impact on students and staff.
He said, “I’m really pleased to see this collaboration between UA92 and Delsys Europe come to fruition. Delsys are one of the world’s leading providers of research-grade electromyography (EMG) and wearable biomechanics technologies, bringing application to the applied sport field, which aligns with the expertise of the World of Sport department.
Having used their systems for many years across teaching, research, and consultancy, it’s fantastic to build a closer relationship with the company. This collaboration will provide our students on sport and exercise science, physical activity, and health related programmes with greater access to industry-leading technology, applied research opportunities and real-world experiences, and curriculum co-design and guest sessions, while also creating new opportunities for consultancy, collaborative research, and CPD event delivery.
A huge thank you to Liam Walton and the team at Delsys Europe for being so open, supportive, and collaborative throughout this process, and for already investing in our students through final-year projects. I’m excited to see where this collaboration takes us and the opportunities it creates for our students and staff.”
Liam Walton, Application Manager at Delsys Europe Ltd said the collaboration aligns closely with the organisation’s mission to connect cutting-edge research technologies to real-world application.
He said, “I’m delighted that the collaboration between Delsys Europe and UA92 is now official. UA92 has an excellent reputation for connecting students with industry and providing real-world experiences alongside academic learning. This aligns perfectly with Delsys Europe’s goal to help bridge the gap between research and practice, ensuring research-grade technology reaches the practitioners who can benefit from it most outside of the lab.
I’m particularly excited about the opportunities this collaboration will create through applied projects, guest lectures, collaborative research, and industry events. Having seen the quality and creativity of last year’s final-year projects, I’m looking forward to supporting the next cohort and seeing what they achieve.
A huge thank you to Dr Mitchell Finlay, the wider World of Sport Department, and the students for being so welcoming throughout our support of UA92 so far. I have no doubt this collaboration will create exciting opportunities for both organisations, and most importantly, for the students who will benefit from it.”
This exciting agreement marks another step forward in UA92’s commitment to providing industry-connected learning experiences. By working alongside a global technology leader such as Delsys Europe, students will be better equipped with the knowledge, practical skills, and industry insight needed to succeed in the evolving fields of sport and exercise science, physical activity, and health.
