UA92 partner with Fujitsu to empower the next generation of Women in Tech

University Academy 92 (UA92) have been working in partnership with Fujitsu to support and empower women in technology, helping to drive inclusive innovation across education and industry.

This collaboration will deliver a range of employment-enhancing initiatives designed to create pathways for underrepresented students pursuing digital careers, through funding totalling £40,000 to support Women in Tech, in line with Fujitsu’s commitment to social value initiatives within UK Public Sector.

The £40,000 will fund bursaries for six individual students, supporting their learning and development within the digital programme over the course of the next three years.

The sponsorship will also support community outreach, student recruitment and Women in Tech events, helping to raise awareness of education and career opportunities across UA92 and its wider school and college network.

On the ground, Fujitsu has already started to provide industry support and guidance to students through a series of interactive learning experiences.

This includes guest speaker sessions attended by over 180 students, participation in UA92’s Festival of Wellbeing and Careers Fairs, along with a bespoke Hackathon delivered to students, and workshops on Generative AI and Agile Planning.

Alongside this work, Fujitsu have also gifted part of their apprenticeship levy to UA92, totalling £61,000, and enabling six female members of UA92 staff to upskill through an apprenticeship.

Plans for 2026 include expert-led sessions exploring sustainability, supporting UA92’s upcoming TechFest in March.

Kanik Peart, a first year Cyber Security student and recipient of the bursary, noted the how the bursary scheme will assist and support their studies: “Since secondary school, I’ve wanted to pursue a career in cyber security. Being awarded the Fujitsu bursary has reassured me that I truly belong in the industry and has lifted a huge financial weight, allowing me to focus on my studies without worrying about covering basic living costs. It’s inspiring to see companies investing in women and non-binary people in tech and helping to make the industry as a whole more inclusive. We need more initiatives like this.”

Head of Social Value for Fujitsu, Kirsty Gallacher, added: “Fujitsu values the opportunity to work with UA92 to invest in future talent and foster a more inclusive, highly skilled digital workforce. Digital skills are critical to the long-term success of our organisation, and this programme allows us to support people in learning, growing, and bringing fresh perspectives into the industry, while developing the capabilities we’ll need for the years ahead.”

Reflecting on the impact this bursary will have in supporting our students, Sara Prowse, UA92 CEO, said, “We’re proud to collaborate with Fujitsu to inspire and support women and non-binary people throughout their digital education. This partnership reinforces UA92’s commitment to accessibility, empowerment and lifelong learning, whilst providing Fujitsu with a talent pipeline of work-ready graduates.”
