Lets put a spotlight on some of our Greatness Unlocked Alumni and see what they have been up to since they graduated from UA92.
Natalya Halliwell – BA (Hons) Physical Education
Natalya is working as a sports coach at 8BY8 Football, coaching football as well as PE in primary schools in the local area.
“Whilst at UA92, the support system was great. All the tutors pushed me to grow and become the coach/teacher I am today. UA92 helped grow my self-confidence and knowledge of the coaching and teaching world. UA92 was a great place to study and I would always recommend it to many students looking for an amazing university.”
Kieran O’Connor – BA (Hons) Journalism
Kieran currently works as a Business Journalist at SBC, writing about Sports Business and the payments landscape.
“During my time at UA92, I honed my skills in multimedia storytelling, which has been invaluable in my professional journey. The person I was when I graduated was ambitious and eager to make an impact. Now, I’m not only experienced, but also committed to continuous learning and growth, striving to apply the lessons in resilience from UA92 every day.”
Chloe Howard – BSc (Hons) Sports and Exercise Science
Chloe is currently doing an internship at Salford City FC, capturing and clipping match footage for performance analysis at post-match evaluations.
“The first presentation I gave at uni, I was so nervous, it was only in front of two people but I was shaking. It was the scariest thing I’d ever had to do. In my final year I was able to stand up in front of the whole class and present my dissertation proposal. I’ve got so much more confidence since going to UA92 and I’m not afraid to push myself outside my comfort zone.”
Michael Witts – BA (Hons) Sports Management
Michael is now an Email Marketing Executive at SportsBreaks, creating engaging email campaigns and content that promotes their sports travel breaks.
“I would say UA92 helped kick start my marketing career. Doing the 92 Programme [at UA92] helped me a lot in the working environment, things like professionalism, team work and problem solving, were skills I developed alongside my studies. I also got an opportunity to do an internship at Lancashire Cricket Club – something I wouldn’t have been able to do without UA92.”
Huma Asghar Baksh – BA (Hons) Business Management
After 18 months as Marketing & Business Development Executive at Gately, Huma has recently taken up a new role as Paid Social & Performance Trainee at WYK Digital.
“Looking back, now I realise I’ve come such a long way. I have so much more confidence now and I overcome my fear of public speaking. I have clear goals and I know what I want to achieve. I would say to anyone thinking about coming to UA92, you can do it! Even if you doubt yourself in the beginning, there is so much help and support available. It’s the best place to study in Manchester!”
Emily Severn – BA (Hons) Physical Education
Emily went on to do a Masters’ degree in Journalism and is currently teaching English in Suzhou, China and focusing on her music career in her free time.
“In April, I was invited to the BBC Radio Nottingham studio by Dean Jackson to discuss my song “City Nights.” The confidence I now have to speak on the radio is thanks to the presentation-based assignments at UA92. These experiences prepared me for public speaking, a crucial aspect of my music career. UA92 not only provided me with degree-specific skills but also transferable ones, enhancing my confidence and belief in my abilities.”
Tengku Asila – BA (Hons) Media & Communications
Asila is now a Social Media Designer in Kuala Lumpur, where she creates social media content for clients in the beauty and lifestyle industry.
“UA92 has shaped me in a way where I have better time management skills and it has help me become more resilient. From my 3 years in UA92, I have not just aced my academics but also developed my soft skills which was one of the key factors that stood me out from the other fresh graduates when I was looking for a job.”
Michael Hough – BA (Hons) Media and Communications
Michael is now an Internal Communications Executive at TalkTalk, after graduating with a first class honours degree in 2024.
“I had a fantastic time at UA92 studying media and communications! The three-year course was packed full of interesting modules – both theoretical and practical – ranging from video production to creating different mock-up marketing campaigns. I owe everything to UA92 for equipping me with the skills I have today and giving me so many opportunities that have undoubtedly helped me in my new role!”
Matt Richards – BSc (Hons) Computer Science
Matt is now an Analyst at 3vrm, helping organisations to manage risk through their 3rd party supply chain and vendor relationships.
“I was told at a young age that I wasn’t “academic”, I dropped out of college due to lack of interest, and then made a living talking. I left a job I was pretty good at to go and do something completely different and study Computer Science at UA92. Computer science was something I wanted to do, and maybe equally as important, I wanted to PROVE that I could do. I did alright on that final point in the end!?”
