UA92 co-founder Gary Neville: ‘Manchester United is where my dreams started and now we have the privilege of helping the next generation achieve theirs’
University Academy 92 (UA92) is expanding with a new campus at Manchester United’s iconic Old Trafford football stadium.
UA92, founded by Gary Neville and fellow members of the Class of ’92, will use several suites within the Sir Bobby Charlton Stand as teaching spaces from January 2026.
The agreement will see the Theatre of Dreams take on a new role away from matchdays as an educational hub for hundreds of young people pursuing degrees and other qualifications with UA92. It marks a significant moment for the higher education institution, bringing its students into one of the most iconic sporting venues in the world.
UA92 opened its main campus next to Old Trafford cricket ground in 2019 and has since expanded with a Business School in Manchester city centre. The new space at Manchester United will further strengthen UA92’s unique model of learning in world-class industry and sporting environments, with the Players and Media Centre at Lancashire Cricket Club already serving as a teaching venue for media students.
Courses delivered at Manchester United’s Old Trafford stadium will include Business of Football, Sports Management, Digital Marketing and Football Broadcast and Journalism – all designed in partnership with industry to give students real-world experience, employability skills and the confidence to thrive in their chosen careers.
UA92 was founded by Gary Neville and his fellow Class of 92 members and former Manchester United teammates Ryan Giggs, Paul Scholes, Phil Neville and Nicky Butt. After growing up together in the club’s youth Academy, the group became an integral part of the most successful era in Manchester United’s history, including the epic Treble win in 1999.
Together with Lancaster University, they founded UA92 to give something back to their home city and to help equip young people from across Greater Manchester and beyond with the skills, mindset and opportunities needed to succeed in the digital era.
Students and their lecturers will have access to suites and rooms in the Sir Bobby Charlton Stand, with classes being held there throughout the academic year. The stadium’s media facilities will also be available to support students on media courses, offering hands-on experience in a professional setting.
Gary Neville, co-founder of UA92, said: “This is a full circle moment for me – Manchester United is where my dreams started and now we have the privilege of helping the next generation achieve theirs. Old Trafford has always been a place where young people dream big, and now it will also be a place where our students can learn, grow and build their futures.
“The Class of ’92’s experiences at Manchester United shaped who we are. The teamwork, commitment and belief we learned here are part of UA92’s DNA. Bringing our students into this environment connects everything we stand for — education, opportunity and the power of sport to change lives.”
Sara Prowse, Chief Executive Officer of UA92, said: “This is another major milestone in UA92’s growth journey. Demand for our degrees and higher education programmes continues to rise, and having a base at Manchester United gives our students access to a world-class learning environment at one of the most famous sporting venues on the planet.
“From Lancashire Cricket to Manchester United, our students are learning in the heart of top industry and sporting environments, gaining the skills, confidence and experience to succeed.”
Marc Armstrong, Chief Business Officer of Manchester United, said: “We are really looking forward to opening the doors of Old Trafford to students from UA92. Manchester United has always been synonymous with youth, drive and determination, epitomised by the Class of ’92.
“In the longer term, as we plan for the regeneration of the Old Trafford area, including the development of a new stadium, this agreement with UA92 demonstrates our desire to work together with local stakeholders in driving social and economic progress across Greater Manchester and beyond.”
