Job Role: Teaching Associate in Sport & Physical Activity​

Location: Manchester ​- UA92 Campuses & Club Grounds​

Salary: £30,000 – £33,000​ FTE – (£15,000- £16,500 0.5)​
Contract Type: 0.5 fixed term and/or  permanent available) ​
Hours: 18.45 hours per week ​

Interview Process: 1st stage week commencing 19th Jan. Shortlisted applicants asked to engage in 3–5-minute video (MS Teams) remote interview. 2nd Stage week commencing 26th Jan 2026:  Successful applicants attend an in-person interview.​

We’re looking for an enthusiastic and committed Teaching Associate in Sport & Physical Activity to join our academic team and help shape the future of sport education across our undergrad programmes and BTEC offerings.​​

About the Role​​

As a Teaching Associate in Sport & Physical Activity, you’ll play a key role in delivering high quality, engaging teaching that reflects UA92’s pedagogies. You’ll work across our growing portfolio of sport, Health, PE and Sports Science programmes, supporting student learning and development both inside and outside the classroom.​​

The role of Teaching associate will also support across the course portfolios of Sport and Physical Activity, as well as our BTEC provisions, at UA92.​

What you’ll do:​​

  • Deliver seminars, tutorials, workshops, and practical sessions in higher education (HE) sport and related subject areas and across levels, including topics in sports coaching, physical education, health, sports science and other relevant disciplines, including BTEC programmes.
  • Contribute to curriculum development and assessment design across programmes and levels, including BTEC
  • Provide clear and constructive feedback to support student progress across higher education and BTEC levels
  • Promote an inclusive, supportive learning environment where all students thrive.​​
  • Collaborate with colleagues across the university, external partners and contribute to continuous improvement in teaching and learning, across programmes.​​​

What we are looking for: ​​

  • ​An Honours degree in a relevant discipline and/or professional qualifications.
  • A commitment to working towards a relevant postgraduate or teaching qualification (e.g. PGCert, HEA Fellowship).​The ability to teach across a broad range of sport-related topics and levels.
  • ​Experience (or strong potential) in higher education teaching, particularly in practical and applied learning contexts.
  • Confidence using digital platforms and tools to enhance the student experience.​​​

Desirable experience:

 

  • ​Working with diverse learner groups
  • Supporting student wellbeing and development
  • Delivering sport degree apprenticeships, BTEC and/or applied learning​ (practitioner)
  • ​Involvement in student recruitment, outreach or employer engagement​​
