Booked an Open Day but don’t know what to do next? Follow our 6 top tips for planning your UA92 Open Day visit for a stress-free and fun experience.
Whether it’s your first ever Open Day or you’re becoming a seasoned pro, you’ll know it’s always a good idea to be prepared. An Open Day should be informal and relaxed. There’s no pressure on you to make any decisions at this stage, but you’ll want to get as much information as possible during your visit. That said, it’s completely normal to feel a bit nervous so here are a few tips to help you make the most of your UA92 Open Day.
1. Pick your campus
UA92 has multiple teaching spaces across Manchester: our UA92 Main Campus, the Old Trafford Stadium, our city-centre Business School, even Lancashire Cricket Club. Where you study depends on what you’re studying! Explore our courses to find out where you’ll be based during your studies. For your Open Day, keep an eye on your emails and the Open Day guide to find out where to go. For any questions or concerns, email us at futures@ua92.ac.uk.
2. Decide on your route
It might sound simple but it’s a good idea to have a clear route mapped out, so your journey is as stress-free as possible. Our campuses are well connected, so you’ll have lots of options when it comes to making travel arrangements. More about how to get to our two locations by the main methods of transport here.
3. Get to know our courses
Choosing the right course is probably top of your list. You might already know exactly what you want to study or have an idea about the subject area you’re interested in. Either way, you can use the Open Day to really get to grips with your options so you can make an informed decision when it’s time to apply. If you haven’t already, make sure you familiarise yourself with our range of Business, Media, Sports and Digital courses, using our course search. And remember all our degrees are awarded by Lancaster University.
4. Make a plan
Use your time wisely; you’ll want to explore the campus, speak to as many people as possible and take time to absorb the atmosphere. It’s amazing how fast time flies so have a rough idea of what you want to see during your visit. You’ll be sent the full schedule of presentations, sessions and tours in advance so you can plan ahead and make the most of your visit.
5. Write down your questions
You’re bound to have lots of questions so it might be helpful to prepare a list of things you want to ask. Think about what you want to know, whether it’s about a course, the application process or student accommodation. Keep a note of all your thoughts so you have a list to refer to on the day. That way, if something isn’t covered, you can speak to one of the many academics, staff or students who’ll be on hand to answer your questions. Remember, our approach is slightly different to a conventional university so make sure you ask lots of questions!
6. Take time to explore
If you choose to apply to UA92, Manchester will be your home for the next few years. Make sure you take the opportunity to see what this magnificent city has to offer. If you already know the city, why not hit up some of the local hotspots. Take a wander around the bohemian village of Chorlton or head to the waterfront at MediaCityUK, plus there’s always the legendary Lancashire Cricket Ground and Old Trafford Football Ground on our doorstep.
So, now you’re ready for your UA92 Open Day, it’s really important to remember one last thing… make sure you have fun and enjoy the day. Hopefully, this will be your first of many visits to University Academy 92!
