At UA92, we’re proud to support a diverse community of talented athletes competing across a wide range of sports, from football and netball to athletics and karate. Students performing at a high level in their chosen sport can join our Talented Athlete Programme (TAP), which is designed to help them succeed both on the field and in the classroom.
Through TAP, student athletes benefit from financial assistance and tailored support services that help them balance the demands of sport and study. This includes access to a gym membership, sport science resources, and funding towards equipment and travel costs. UA92 is also a TASS Dual Career Accredited Organisation, highlighting our commitment to providing the academic flexibility and support student athletes need to thrive.
Below, we shine a spotlight on five of our talented athletes, who share how UA92 has helped them pursue their sporting ambitions without compromising on their academic goals.
Quianna
Sports Coaching Student
Football
Quianna is a footballer currently playing in a summer league for Armada FC Women in Jacksonville, Florida. Following the summer season, she will be trialling for teams competing in tiers three and four.
“UA92 have been amazing at supporting me as a TAP athlete, holding extra gym sessions to help with sport and position-specific training whilst doing fitness testing to see what I need to improve on. The Sport92 team have also supported me through my injuries.”

Daisy
Sports and Exercise Science Student
Netball
Daisy is a netball player currently competing for Northern Steel Sparks in the EMMNA National League. She has been playing for 13 years, developing her skills throughout high school and college in Wrexham and Flintshire before progressing to the North East Wales Netball Association. She continues to play for her local club, North Dragons.
Alongside her playing career, Daisy is the club captain of UA92’s netball team. She has also begun coaching the U7 and U13 squads at DNA Netball Club, where she is supported and mentored by UA92’s netball coach.
“UA92’s Talented Athlete Programme allows me to play netball alongside my studies, helping me with travel costs and time management. The weekly Strength and Conditioning sessions have helped with my confidence in the gym and improved my overall strength, supporting my team performance.”
Campbell
Business Management Student
Football
Campbell started playing football when he was four years old. Last season, I began playing at Trafford FC semi-professionally. He picked up Player of the Month last August, scoring an 89th minute winner in the FA cup the day after his 19th birthday. He moved to Stockport Town, where he played for the remainder of the season.
In his first year at UA92, he represented the Australian Schoolboys on their UK tour and plays for UA92’s Men’s First Team, winning Players’ Player of the season last season.
“UA92 has been great in helping me manage my timetable – knowing when my lectures are in advance and attending them in the morning allows me time to organise my training and recovery. UA92 is very supportive and understanding of me, the staff are all very kind and are consistently checking in on me.”
Ava
Sports and Exercise Science Student
Running
Originally from Limerick, Ava started running during the Covid-19 pandemic, having never ran before. She quickly reached an elite level, and her marathon debut was a huge success, completing Manchester Marathon in just 2:49. Her most significant achievement came at the 2025 Irish Life Dublin Marathon, where she won the Irish National Marathon title, becoming the youngest ever women’s national champion at just 19 years old, setting a personal best of 2:34.
“My time at UA92 has been incredibly positive, both as a student and as an athlete. The flexibility of the university’s AM and PM study schedules allowed me to effectively balance the demands of training with my academic commitments. Being part of the Talented Athlete Programme was also invaluable, as it provided additional support during busy racing periods, including extended deadlines for assignments when needed. The support from the staff throughout my journey has been exceptional. Danielle, Jon, and Eoin, alongside many others, consistently went above and beyond to support me, not only as an athlete but also as a person. Their understanding, encouragement, and willingness to help have played a significant role in my development both academically and athletically. I am extremely grateful for the opportunities and support I received during my time at UA92.”
Katie
Sports Media and Communications Student
Karate
Katie has been training and competing in karate for the past ten years, competing at domestic, national and international levels. She is a member of her local club, Shinzoku Ryu and the Great Britain team, Kenshin Karate Organisation GB. Throughout her journey, she’s achieved numerous accolades, including becoming a double World Champion at the Malta World Championships and earning her A Squad badge for the Great Britain team.
Karate has helped Katie to develop discipline, resilience, and a strong commitment to achieving her goals. Her current goal is to achieve her 3rd Dan Black Belt while continuing to improve her kata and kumite skills. Through dedicated training and competition, she aims to build on her successes and continue winning medals and titles at the highest levels in the future.
“UA92 has given me the opportunity to continue competing by tailoring my course around my activities. The talented athlete programme and my involvement in BUCS exposed me to a different environment, whether it’s competition style or competitors. I look forward to continuing to take part in BUCS competitions in future years to come.”
