Parents and Guardians FAQ

BACK

When we ask students who influences their university choices most, parents and guardians always come out on top. Even if it doesn’t always feel like it, your reassurance and encouragement matter.

We know this journey can feel just as big for you as it does for them, so we’ve pulled together clear answers to the questions parents and guardians ask us most.

Life at UA92

Who awards a UA92 degree?

At UA92, students graduate with a Lancaster University degree, a qualification recognised internationally and valued by employers. Every course goes through the same rigorous approval and quality checks as those delivered by Lancaster University itself.

How good is the quality of teaching at UA92?

We’re also proud to be the youngest higher education provider to achieve a Silver rating in the Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF), demonstrating a very high standard of teaching.

What is the social life like at UA92?

UA92 has a growing, friendly community of over 1,200 students, based across our Main Campus in Old Trafford and the UA92 Business School.

At the start of the year, students take part in welcome activities designed to help them settle in and meet new friends. And although we don’t have a traditional Students’ Union, there are plenty of clubs, societies, events and socials running throughout the year, where students can get involved and find their people.

Can students use facilities at both sites?

Yes. All students are welcome at both main sites, they can sign up to use the gym at our Main Campus or use the grab and go café. Some students may have teaching at Lancashire Cricket Club or Old Trafford Stadium, but they are welcome to use Main Campus as a base.

Support

What wellbeing support is available?

UA92 was rated the most supportive institution in Greater Manchester for two years running (National Student Survey)*.

Our Student Support & Wellbeing team and dedicated Counselling Service are here to help with anything from academic worries to personal challenges. Students never have to struggle alone. You can find out more here.

*Compared with the four Greater Manchester universities.

What about disability support?

If a student has a disability or learning difference, the earlier you let us know, the better we can support them in their transition to university life. This includes specific learning differences, long-term health conditions and mental health conditions.

Students can disclose this on UCAS, or contact our Disability and Inclusion Adviser directly at inclusivesupport@UA92.ac.uk.

They may also be eligible for Disabled Students’ Allowances (DSA) before joining us. This could fund study skills support, mentoring or even transport, depending on their needs. Find out more here.

Accommodation

We know that moving away from home is a big milestone. We have a modern student accommodation block exclusive for UA92 students.

Academy Apartments is just across the road from the Main Campus, ideal for rolling out of bed and into class.

You can view our accommodation here.

Student Finance

What is the cost of doing a degree at UA92?

For 2026/27 the annual tuition fees for study at UA92 for UK students are set out below**:

Course  Annual Tuition Fee
Full Time Degree (three years)  £9,790
Accelerated Degree (two years)  £11,750
Cert HE (first year of degree)  £9,790

**UA92 will review tuition fees each year. For UK students if Parliament permits an increase in tuition fees, UA92, along with other HEIs in England, may increase fees each year using RPI-X, subject to the maximum fee limits set out in regulations.

Can you get help to pay for fees and their costs?

Students can apply for a Tuition Fee loan to cover their course fees and a Maintenance loan to help with living costs. Maintenance loans are means-tested and are based on things like household income and where the applicant plans on studying.

You can find detailed guidance, including how to apply, repayments and bursaries, here.

When do you apply for student finance?

For September starters, applications usually open in mid-late March. Applying early helps prevent delays in receiving funding.

Employability

How do you prepare students for the world of work?

Our 92 Programme is part of every course. As well as develop their academic subject knowledge, they will go on a journey of self-development by taking part in mandatory sessions which focus on things like identifying strengths, building resilience, creating a personal brand and how to prepare for recruitment processes such as interviews.

Can students study whilst working?

Yes. Many students choose part-time work, and our Careers Service can help them find opportunities that fit around their timetable. Careers fairs throughout the year also connect them with employers offering both part-time and graduate roles. time work, and our time and graduate roles.
