Join a Sports Club
Join one of our competitive sports clubs and take part in BUCS (British Universities and Colleges Sport) leagues and cups. Many of our competitive teams welcome members with all levels of ability and experience. Choose from our clubs in football, basketball, netball, futsal, badminton, table tennis and cricket. If your sport is not listed here, there’s always the option to set up a new club from scratch!
The UA92 football programme is growing from strength to strength. We’ve been awarded a 3 star rating from the BUCS football accreditation award for the second year running – the highest possible rating, putting us in and amongst the top 16 universities in the UK.
This showcases our inclusive programme across football and futsal, with lots of opportunities to get involved through playing, officiating and coaching, including amongst our own teams and in the community. With the appointment of a Head Coach to maximise the potential of our students, our men’s first team have managed back to back promotions within BUCS leagues, whilst our women’s team have had a title-winning season.
We now have three competitive men’s teams in BUCS, and one women’s team as well as teams participating in the local Manchester universities league. You can also join our fun social leagues so there are options for anyone wanting to play football.
Social Sport
It’s not all about competitive sport. You can take part in a range of fun sports and fitness activities throughout the year to help promote good physical and mental well-being under our GetUActive Programme.
This includes turn up and play sessions such as dodgeball and badminton, as well as social leagues, tournaments and one-off fitness classes plus much more.
The Performance Centre, which is located at our Old Trafford campus includes The Fitness Zone, a gym for staff and students to enjoy.
You’ll have access to the latest gym and training equipment right here on campus as well as a Gym and Physical Activity Officer available to help with any training and fitness goal needs.
If you prefer the great outdoors there are organised walks and running groups. Something for everyone to get involved in and keep active.
Support for Athletes
Talented Athlete Programme
Our Sport92 Talented Athlete Programme is designed to support student athletes who are competing at a high-level in their sport. If you are eligible, you could get financial awards and support services to help you balance your academic and sporting commitments. This can include a gym membership, sport science support, equipment expenses and travel costs.

University Academy 92 is delighted to announce a partnership with Castore to become our official kit supplier. With training tops, hoodies and everything else you need to train and play in, feel a part of UA92 from day one.
The British sportswear group has designed and manufactured a new set of kits, training wear and leisurewear for our new competitive sports clubs.
