Archie

BA (Hons) Sports Journalism

Archie studied Sports Journalism at UA92, graduating in 2026 and now working as an IndyCar accredited journalist, and autobiography transcriber.

“While UA92’s motto of being ‘deliberately different’ led to me feeling joining the university could have been a gamble, any sense of risk was quickly eliminated and my three years proved foundational to my aspirations in the journalism field. At UA92, you really feel counted – a valued name rather than a number in a crowd. A close working relationship with lecturers was invaluable in my progress throughout my degree, with the support you receive much greater than at a ‘traditional’ university.

The mixture of theoretical work but lots of practical application of this knowledge was the perfect balance to feed an education as a multi-skilled budding media professional. Beyond assignment work, the opportunities that came from my time at UA92, chiefly a visit as accredited media to the Davis Cup in Manchester (an incredible experience as a lifelong tennis fan and player), were equally important for my development – both professionally and personally.”

How Do You Become a Sports Broadcaster in the UK?

Harry

BA (Hons) Sports Journalism

Harry works as a Social Media Assistant at The Overlap, after graduating from UA92 with a degree in Sports Journalism in 2024.

“I had the most incredible three years at UA92, a personal highlight for me was getting to interview Gary Neville, one of my childhood idols. Since graduating, I’ve come full circle and now work as a Social Media Assistant at The Overlap, working on projects with Gary. This role was a long-term goal of mine and stepping into it felt like a dream come true.”

Jack

BA (Hons) Sports Journalism

Jack graduated from UA92 in 2023, with a degree in Sports Journalism.

“To be quite honest, I was apprehensive about starting university, but I’m so glad I did, because I ended up having the best three years of my life. Since graduating, I’ve gone on to work for Buzz 16, the production company behind The Overlap, progressing through the company in various different production roles. Now, I work as an Assistant Producer at Hungry Bear Media, working on live coverage of the NFL”

Kieran O'Connor

Kieran

BA (Hons) Journalism

Kieran currently works as a Business Journalist at SBC, writing about Sports Business and the payments landscape.

“During my time at UA92, I honed my skills in multimedia storytelling, which has been invaluable in my professional journey. The person I was when I graduated was ambitious and eager to make an impact. Now, I’m not only experienced, but also committed to continuous learning and growth, striving to apply the lessons in resilience from UA92 every day.”

Louie stood at the podium delivering his graduation speech

Louie

BA (Hons) Sports Journalism

Louie graduated from UA92 in 2025 with a degree in Sports Journalism, before going on to secure a role as a Social Media Manager at Greater Manchester Wellbeing Series, whilst studying for his NCTJ, continuing to build on the foundation UA92 helped him create.

“My journey into higher education wasn’t something I always imagined for myself. After studying at Pendleton College, I went on to study Sports Journalism at UA92, a decision that completely changed my confidence, mindset, and ambitions.

When I first arrived at UA92, I was quiet, shy, and hesitant to put myself forward. Over time, the supportive and personal environment helped me grow, not just academically, but personally. UA92 gave me the space to find my voice, build confidence, and believe in myself. Along the way, I gained hands-on experience, formed lifelong friendships, and created memories I’ll always look back on, both inside and outside the classroom.

I chose UA92 because it felt different to a traditional university. The close support from lecturers, the industry insight from partners, and the emphasis on real-world experience prepared me for life beyond education and gave me the confidence to take the next step.
Looking back, I’m proud of how far I’ve come, from someone who once doubted whether university was for them, to someone ready for the next chapter. My journey is just getting started, and I’m excited to see where it leads next.”

Marley

BA (Hons) Sports Media and Communications

Marley graduated from UA92 in 2025 with a degree in Sports Media and Communications. He now works as a Junior Producer at adi.tv, where he works with Heart of Midlothian (Hearts), producing content for the big screen at their stadium, Tynecastle Park.

“After studying Media at Warrington and Vale Royal College, I went on to study Sports Media & Communications at UA92 and having now graduated, I can now say, it was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. From growing as a person inside and outside of the classroom, gaining real industry insight, making amazing friends and having so many opportunities and much more.

Some of my favourite memories from my time at UA92 include graduating, of course, but also the hands-on experience I gained at Salford City Football Club as a Camera Operator, and at Trafford FC as a Media and Marketing Officer. Achieving 89% in one of my third-year modules was another standout moment.

Shortly after graduating, I secured my current role as a Junior Producer at adi.tv, where I produce matchday content for one of their clients, Heart of Midlothian (Hearts). This content is shown on the big screens at their home stadium, Tynecastle Park. I’m really enjoying the role and continuing to grow in the media industry.

None of this would have been possible without UA92. What I’ve learned over the past three years has definitely helped prepare for the industry, building my confidence, experience and willingness to aim for what I want.”

Michael

BA (Hons) Media and Communications

Michael studied Media and Communications, graduating from UA92 in 2024. He went on to work as an Internal Communications Executive at TalkTalk, before returning to UA92 last year to work as an Events Assistant.

“After spending three years at UA92 I can genuinely say I’m indebted to the university for everything it did for me. Not only did it give me a fantastic insight into the media industry through the range of hands-on modules and projects – from creating online magazines and interactive documentaries to mock-up adverts and fashion sustainability marketing campaigns, but it also brought me on as a person massively. And to think that now I have the privilege of working for UA92 and the opportunity to give back is something I’m absolutely over the moon about. I can’t thank UA92 enough for everything they have done for me!”

Asila - Alumni

Tengku

“UA92 has shaped me in a way where I have better time management skills and it has help me become more resilient. From my 3 years in UA92, I have not just aced my academics but also developed my soft skills which was one of the key factors that stood me out from the other fresh graduates when I was looking for a job.”
