Molly’s passion for nutrition began with her own experiences and grew into a career dedicated to helping others. Now a Lecturer in Sport at UA92 and a sports nutrition consultant, she combines her expertise in sport, health and education to support athletes and inspire the next generation.
My Journey
My journey into nutrition began from a personal place. As a teenager and young adult, I experienced my own challenges with food and eating behaviours. This sparked an interest in understanding nutrition properly and learning how to build a healthier relationship with food and my body which led to a degree in Nutrition.
As I became more active, my interest evolved from general nutrition into sports nutrition which led to my Masters. I started running, then cycling, and recently moved into triathlon. Through training and competing myself, I became fascinated by how nutrition could influence performance, recovery and overall wellbeing. I wanted to understand not only what to eat to be healthy, but how to fuel effectively for sport.
My experiences as both an athlete and a nutrition professional led me into sports nutrition consultancy, where I support athletes with evidence-based advice, and into higher education, where I now work as a Lecturer in Sport at UA92. Both roles allow me to share my passion for sport, nutrition and education while helping others develop their performance, knowledge and confidence.
Where am I now?
Today, I work as a Lecturer in Sport at UA92, where I teach across a range of sport and health-related subjects. My role involves delivering engaging, applied learning experiences that help students develop both academic knowledge and practical skills for careers within the sport industry.
A key part of my teaching philosophy is bridging the gap between theory and practice. I encourage students to think critically, apply scientific concepts to real-world situations, and develop the communication and professional skills needed to work effectively with athletes, clients and the wider public.
Alongside my lecturing role, I work in sports nutrition consultancy, supporting athletes and active individuals with evidence-based nutrition strategies to improve performance, recovery and overall health. I work with a range of clients, from recreational exercisers to endurance athletes, helping them develop practical plans that fit their training, goals and lifestyle.
How I’m passing it on
Through teaching, mentoring and outreach activities with schools and colleges, I aim to inspire young people to explore careers in sport, nutrition and health. I’m particularly passionate about sharing critical thinking skills and encouraging students to question nutrition myths and misinformation. In a world where health advice is everywhere, the ability to evaluate evidence and communicate it effectively is incredibly valuable. The values I try to pass on are curiosity, professionalism, empathy and a commitment to lifelong learning. Technical knowledge is important, but so is the ability to build relationships and communicate with people from different backgrounds.
Giving back matters to me because I know how influential mentors, educators and practical experiences were in shaping my own career. If I can help someone gain confidence, discover a passion for the field, or take the next step in their journey, that’s something I find incredibly rewarding.
